چکیده

This paper is devoted to studying the temperature-dependent incompressible nematic liquid crystal flows in a bounded domain Ω ⊂ R (N = 2, 3). Inspired by Danchin [J. Math. Fluid Mech. 2006], we use a localization argument to recover the maximal regularity of Stokes equation with variable viscosity. Also the results proved by Lei-Li-Zhang [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 2014] are generalized to the case of bounded domain, so as to obtain the decay of the kinetic energy. Finally, the global well-posedness for small perturbation around the trivial equilibrium state is established.

Asymptotic Behavior of Solution to the Incompressible Nematic Liquid Crystal Flows in R

In this paper, we investigate the Cauchy problem for the incompressible nematic liquid crystal flows in three-dimensional whole space. First of all, we establish the global existence of solution by energy method under assumption of small initial data. Furthermore, the time decay rates of velocity and director are built when the initial data belongs to L1(R3) additionally. Finally, one also cons...

Global Strong Solutions of the Full Navier-Stokes and Q-Tensor System for Nematic Liquid Crystal Flows in Two Dimensions

We consider a full Navier–Stokes and Q-tensor system for incompressible liquid crystal flows of nematic type. In the two dimensional periodic case, we prove the existence and uniqueness of global strong solutions that are uniformly bounded in time. This result is obtained without any smallness assumption on the physical parameter ξ that measures the ratio between tumbling and aligning effects o...

Investigation into the temperature dependence of isotropic- nematic phase transition of Gay- Berne liquid crystals

Density functional approach was used to study the isotropic- nematic (I-N) transition and calculate the values of freezing parameters of the Gay- Berne liquid crystal model. New direct and pair correlation functions of a molecular fluid with Gay- Berne pair potential were used. These new functions were used in density functional theory as input to calculate the isotropic- nematic transition den...

Regularity of Solutions to 3-d Nematic Liquid Crystal Flows

In this note we consider the regularity of solutions to 3-D nematic liquid crystal flows, we prove that if either u ∈ Lq(0, T ;Lp(R3)), 2 q + 3 p ≤ 1, 3 < p ≤ ∞; or u ∈ Lα(0, T ;Lβ(R3)), 2 α + 3 β ≤ 2, 3 2 < β ≤ ∞, then the solution (u, d) is regular on (0, T ].

Blow up criterion for nematic liquid crystal flows

In this paper, we establish a blow up criterion for the short time classical solution of the nematic liquid crystal flow, a simplified version of Ericksen-Leslie system modeling the hydrodynamic evolution of nematic liquid crystals, in dimensions two and three. More precisely, 0 < T∗ < +∞ is the maximal time interval iff (i) for n = 3, |ω|+|∇d|2 / ∈ Lt L ∞ x (R × [0, T∗]); and (ii) for n = 2, |...
